Lorser Feitelson Hard-Edge painting sold at Poetic Eye
The Poetic Eye just sold this large black and white abstract painting by Lorser Feitelson to a Hard-Edge collector in Los Angeles. It had not been shown since the seventies and so is a wonderful new addition to Feitelson's body of work that will be seen and enjoyed once again. The Poetic Eye periodically sells the work of Lorser Feitelson and Helen Lundeburg in addition to its core group of artists.

Miriam Slater new geisha painting of Rachel Brice

This painting of belly dancer Rachel Brice is Miriam Slater's most recent geisha painting (two more are in the works). It was finished in early 2011 and is the fourth portrait Slater has done of Rachel Brice who is one of the world's finest bellydancers - a pioneer in that genre. She is also a fashion icon, creating exotic fashions that are copied the world over. While in the painting her costume may seem to be quite exotic, when you see her in person, she looks just as fascinating. In the painting she is shown holding a butterfly with her students in the background against the skyline of San Francisco. She has to be seen to be appreciated and to take a look at her legendary dancing be sure to visit rachelbrice.com or go to youtube.

Poetic Eye - Eva Slater recent painting sales

There has a renewed interest in Eva Slater's work with brisker sales here in the gallery in 2011. The spare, elegant forest painting just sold to a Los Angeles collector who also collects the work of Harry Carmean and the hard-edge master Lorser Feitelson (Feitelson was also a friend of Slater's in the 1950's and 60's).
